Athlete Profile: Bryant pushes himself to make impact this season

Junior Jalen Bryant made his varsity basketball debut last year during the 2018-19 season. He came out strongly from of a serious hamstring injury and made a big impact on the team. He has been working very hard during the off season to try to make this season his best season yet.

“I believe this year will be my best because of how much better I have gotten over the summer, and I feel like I am well-prepared to go out there and play to the best of my abilities,” Jalen said.

Jalen has been playing basketball for 14 years. Apart from JC basketball, Jalen plays AAU for Team Melo, a highly reputable basketball program known for the top level athletes it produces. Jalen has had a passion for basketball from a very young age.

“My parents got me into basketball around age three or four, and as I grew up, I developed more and more love for the game,” Jalen said.

During the off-season, Jalen has been working extremely hard in the weight room as well as on the court. He has put in many hours to prepare himself for the long season ahead.

One morning in July, he came into school and shot over 300 three-pointers to practice before the season.

While traveling for tournaments and playing in very competitive games, Jalen has made great memories with his teammates, “I have had fun memories with my teammates on and off the court,” Jalen said.

“This season I hope to win a lot more games and, hopefully, a championship,” he added.
