Claycomb begins Patriot softball journey

Claycomb+begins++Patriot+softball++journey
With it only being her first year at JC, freshman Savannah Claycomb has been a major contributor to the softball team. In the upset game versus Spalding High School, she pitched a great game, which played a major role in the Patriots’ win.
Savannah first started her interest in softball after seeing her brother play baseball. Her brothers Dylan and Gavin are also athletic and love playing sports. She mentioned that she loves how caring her teammates are.
Savannah first chose John Carroll because she loved the environment. She said that she feels the environment is friendly and the atmosphere attracted her to JC.
She first noticed her love for the school when she shadowed.
Savannah has participated in club softball since she was 11. She has played for a variety of teams including The Hickory Hornets, PA Chaos, and Wagners. She is currently playing for Wagners 16U.
 She said that she has felt that playing for her club teams has prepared her for playing for high school because players see better pitching and better competition. She added that it has helped her to prepare for the faster pace of high school.
So far, Savannah is loving her experience at JC. Her favorite in-school memory so far was Spirit Week in the fall. She mentioned that she loved the thrill that Spirit Week gave her.
Her favorite memory of the softball season has been the energy that the team brought in the win against Spalding.
Savannah said that she feels as if the season went great and that she had a lot of fun as well.
She said, “It’s given me a chance to develop my skills in a positive environment with great players and great friends.” She was she excited for what the rest of the season would hold.
