Saccoh scores points for her final year

Athlete Profile
Saccoh+scores+points+for+her+final+year
Senior Naimah Saccoh is playing in her last year on the JC basketball team. She has been on the team for all four years of high school and started playing when she was just eight-years-old.
She has played travel ball for Bel Air and played AAU for Emmorton Chaos, Maryland Chaos, and the Maryland Basketball Club. Naimah has contributed many points to each team she has played for and said that she has learned valuable lessons along the way like “only focusing on the things I can control.”
Naimah is a shooting guard and point guard for both travel and high school teams. This position means that she makes baskets for her team, steals the ball from the defense, and is one of the best dribblers and passers.
Her goals for this season are for the team to start where they left off last season. “I want us to make it to the championship game,” Naimah said.
To stay in shape, she goes for runs either outside on a treadmill or by doing some sprints on the court. She goes to the gym frequently.
Naimah said, “Some struggles I’ve faced are that some days my shooting is worse than others, and it’s hard staying confident through it.”
She pushes through all obstacles to be the best player she can be and stops at nothing until she has met her goals.
The person who has most contributed to her success is one of her old AAU coaches. “He helped me fall in love with the sport.” She has also really looked up to Kyrie Irving for his playing style and Steph Curry for his shooting.
Naimah’s plans for the future are to go to college and possibly look to play sports. “ If the opportunity were to present itself, I would love to play basketball, but if not, I’ll look to play club basketball at whatever school I end up.”
