New championship sports banners displayed in the Upper Gym

During January, the championship banners in the Upper Gym were updated. The old banners had been there for at least 20 years, and it was certainly time for a change. With a new and more detailed look and a new location in the gym, they certainly complement the gym better.
The banners have a new shape with a black background and gold edges. They include black and gold lettering with white lettering for the years that sports team won. They contain a small design for each sport at the bottom of their banner.
Athletic Trainer Erik Fabriziani shared that this update has been planned since COVID, and after looking at many options, this was the way to go. The new banners were designed by Director of Creative Services Karen Everett.
The Patriot mural that was featured above the home side bleachers has been offered back to the alumna who painted it, due to banners filling its place.
Sophomore Bella Mercado said, “It’s nice to see the added detail, and I like the new arrangement.”
Senior Abby Cullison said, “They look much better, and I like seeing girls and boys golf separate, rather than just having ‘Golf.’”
