John Carroll came together to celebrate its remarkable student-athletes during the End-of Year Athletic Celebration on Tuesday April 29.
Held in the Upper Gym, cafeteria, and courtyard, the event honored commitment, sportsmanship, and achievements of students across all athletic teams, from fresh-soph to varsity.
Principal Carl Patton opened with a prayer, followed by Athletic Director, Seth Goldberg, who welcomed all student-athletes and recognized the hard work and passion they had endured over the course of the school year.
Athletic Director Laura Seifert and Athletic Trainer Erik Fabriziani introduced students who earned awards for their athletic excellence.
Senior Annie Minoglio was awarded the Patriot Award for Field Hockey, and senior Addison Biscoe was awarded the Patriot Award and 12-Season Athlete Award.
Other awards like the White Blazer Award, Cesky Award, and the McCormick Unsung Hero award were given to many other athletes to commemorate the achievements they had over the years. All varsity athletes got a letter and a pin as well.
They announced important milestones made by the sports teams this year, like Girls Indoor Track & Field earning their title as the IAAM Champions, as well as Boys Varsity Cross Country earning first in the MIAA Championship.
They also acknowledged the JV girls lacrosse team as the first team to go undefeated in 60 years, a big accomplishment for the JC community.
Baseball was another important acknowledgment as they hit the most home runs and were then going for nationals.
Being a student athlete is not easy. Mr. Fabriziani gave strong advice to any future student-athletes. “You have to balance your time in the classroom and with your sport, but the accomplishment of competing with your team or individually teaches you so many lessons that will serve you well throughout your entire life.”
Out of 10 badminton coaches, Head Coach Hannah Roy was named IAAM Badminton Coach of the 2025 season. “It was great to be recognized by fellow coaches who work well to grow a program that brings together different athletes with various athletic abilities.” Overall, the ceremony was important for recognizing milestones that each team hit this school year, and all of the accomplishments made by individual athletes.
