The Baltimore Orioles have been struggling with a 22-36 record, falling in last place in the American League East.
As they moved into the 2025 season, expectations were very high for the team, especially with how the team did in the last two seasons. In 2024, they finished the season with a 91-71 record. In 2023, their record was 101-61.
People started the season expecting the team to return to post-season play. However, April and May struggles make it look like the post-season may not be in the future.
Worries about their starting rotation started to come about, following the departure of ace Corbin Burnes to the Arizona Diamondbacks and have people questioning how this season will be for the Baltimore Orioles. The Orioles’ during the offseason weren’t the best, and that worried the people even more, which is not normal for the Orioles.
The loss of Anthony Santander and Austin Hays have had negative effects on the team as well.
The team has been through a lot of challenges, including not having a strong and consistent starting pitcher, making the team very weak.
On May 17, after a 15-28 start to the 2025 season, Oriole Manager Brandon Hyde and Tim Cossins, the team’s Major League field coordinator and/coaching instructor, were both fired. Hyde had been the manager for the Orioles for six years.
Third base coach Tony Mansolino is now the interim manager. Since he has taken over, the Orioles have a 7-8 record.
The season’s midpoint is coming in about seven weeks, and, hopefully, the team can rebound so fans can see the team return to what they saw last year.
