Senior opposite hitter Kyle Wedemeyer serves the volleyball in a game against Archbishop Spalding on Friday, Oct. 27. The men’s varsity volleyball team finished the season with a 1-18 record.

Men’s Volleyball

The men’s varsity volleyball team finished the season with a 1-18 overall record and a  0-16 record in MIAA A Conference games. Their lone win of the season was on Sept. 29 against North Harford High School.

The team gained experience as the season went on. “We grew and developed a lot. We learned how to compete. Toward the end of the season we improved and really showed our potential,” assistant coach Tucker Snow said.

Seven sophomores played big roles on the team this season. “It was good for our sophomores to get a lot of experience on varsity this season,” junior outside hitter Nico Santoro said. The seven sophomores played in both varsity and JV games throughout the season.

Although the team struggled to win games, players are optimistic for next season. “Despite what our record showed, we had a great rebuilding season. With our young core, we have plans to make the playoffs next season,” Santoro said.

Men’s volleyball hopes to turn positive signs into results. JV finished 10-2, and the varsity team only graduated Kyle Wedemeyer, the lone senior.
