A new member of the faculty is Math Teacher Amy Scarborough. She joined the faculty after Spring Break.
Mrs. Scarborough has had plenty of experience teaching; she has taught for 20 years in Baltimore County, Chappel Hill North Carolina, and St. Paul’s School for Girls.
She has taught math classes in grades five through 12, and even though she has a great passion for math, she also has many hobbies outside of school.
Mrs. Scarborough loves to go running, biking, and doing yoga. “I am looking forward to traveling, boating and spending time with family. I am also hoping to do a good bit of school planning this summer.”
Mrs. Scarborough not only has experience of working with kids and teens but also adults. She took two and a half years off from teaching to be in the business field as a learning facilitator where she educated adults on how to do their jobs at Kelly Benefits.
She said she wanted to get back to teaching students math because “there’s a lot more energy working with students.”
Mrs. Scarborough said she decided to come work at John Carroll because, “I thought it was a great opportunity, and I wanted to join a strong community.”
She added, “The school community is very welcoming. Everyone has been super helpful in getting me acclimated. I sense a strong team spirit at John Carroll and a lot of positivity.”
Even though Mrs. Scarborough is looking forward to the 2025-2026 school year she still has faced some challenges with coming in at the end of the school year.
She said, “My biggest challenge has been learning the schedule with the eight-day rotation.”
