Athlete Profile: Junior Sterling is three-sport varsity athlete

Junior Madison Sterling is versatile student-athlete who plays on our women’s lacrosse, soccer, and indoor track teams.

Madison has been a varsity athlete in all three of her sports since her freshman year at JC. Her main sport is lacrosse. She is among the top women’s lacrosse players in the nation for her class.

Madison has been playing lacrosse since she was five years old and has been playing soccer since she was three years old.

During her freshman year, Madison scored 25 goals to help her team on the offensive side. Last year as a sophomore, she scored 40 goals, almost doubling her total from her freshman year.

“My favorite memory was beating St. Mary’s in our playoff game last year and just getting the chance to play with my sister Emily for two years,” Madison said.

Emily Sterling, Madison’s sister is currently a freshman at The University Of Maryland.

As a three-sport athlete, Madison is extremely dedicated to improving her athletic ability. She works out two times a week during her lacrosse and soccer seasons and four to five times a week during the winter and summer.

“My biggest challenge happened my freshman year. I had to adjust to the skill level and embrace a leadership role early on,” Madison said.

This past September, Madison decided to commit to The University of Maryland to join her sister Emily and the 2019 NCAA Women’s Lacrosse National Championship team.
