SiriusXM Music plays Christmas holiday hits over a wide variety of channels

You wake on November 1, the day after Halloween, and get into your car to go to school. You turn on the radio, go to SiriusXM, and you hear Christmas music!? Yes, it’s that time of the year again.

Every year starting on November 1, the radio subscription “SiriusXM” begins to play their annual collection of Christmas music. There are two main channels added to SiriusXM for the Christmas season. These channels are “Holly” and “Holiday Traditions.”

These stations are found on channels 65, 30, and 73. As well as the two main channels, there are 12 other channels that focus on a specific category of Christmas music. These include Latin America, country, specific decades, and jazz.

Listening to Christmas music is an enjoyable thing to do; it’s an easy way to get into the holiday spirit.

SiriusXM plays Christmas music non-stop until after the new year. If you’re really into the holiday, you’ll likely be listening to these channels 24/7. The music they play is normally upbeat, such as “Feliz Navidad” by Jose Feliciano. Once in a while, however, you will hear slow, downbeat songs, such as “Oh Holy Night” by Josh Groban.

The subscriptions’ wide variety of Christmas channels makes it easy for one to enjoy a specific category of music.

The channels will definitely play well-known Christmas songs, such as “All I Want For Christmas is You” by Mariah Carey or “Frosty the Snowman” by Gene Autry.

The subscription does has some flaws, however. First off is the start date, with the date being November 1. With it being literally the day after Halloween, many people may want to start listening to Christmas music that soon. They would likely want to wait until after Thanksgiving is over to start getting into the spirit of the holiday season.

I feel as if SiriusXM should push the date to start playing Christmas music to at least the middle of November or after Thanksgiving.

Another flaw is the amount of songs they play. While I applaud SiriusXM for introducing a wide variety of channels for the Christmas season, it may just be a bit over-the-top.

Those who like to listen to the classic Christmas songs may want to go to the channel “Holly.” While Holly does play those classic Christmas songs, they play some that you have probably never even heard of before. It’s somewhat hard to listen to that classic song you like.

Other than these two flaws, the subscriptions for the holiday music does not have anything else wrong with it.

I highly recommend listening to it often to get into the holiday spirit.
