Valentine’s Day is a day that is often surrounded by the idea of having a significant other.

People tend to not focus on those who don’t have significant others on this day. The people who don’t have significant others can celebrate “Galentine’s Day” or “Palentine’s Day,” which is the friend version of the Valentine’s Day.

Galentine’s Day is celebrated on the same day as Valentine’s Day, but it’s for single ladies. Generally, they will hang out with their friends instead of significant others. They have a girls’ day, go to spas, get their nails done, go shopping, or can even just hangout.

Palentine’s Day is also celebrated on the same day as Valentine’s Day, but it’s for single guys. They can hang out, play video games, and sit around with their friends. Guys commonly don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day unless they have a significant other.

Gifts are also a very important part of Valentine’s Day. Flowers, teddy bears, and jewelry are some of the more common gift to receive on Valentine’s Day. These gifts can be given for Galentine’s or Palentine’s Day.

According to the National Confectioners Association, chocolate is the world’s most popular Valentine’s gift. The Association also stated that as many as 40 million heart-shaped boxes of chocolate are sold each year.

Freshman Emma Fuchs says that she always celebrates Valentine’s Day with her family. Emma said, “On Valentine’s Day, I eat chocolate and hang out with my family.”

Freshman Annabeth Hohman also celebrates Valentine’s Day with her family and friends. She said, “I like to go out to dinner with my family and spend time with them, but I also like to hang out with my friends as well.”

Valentine’s Day is the third most popular and most liked holiday around the world according to knowinsiders.com. It does have the Galentine and Palentine options, so celebrations are endless.
