New yogurt shop sweetly serves students

The sweet and low-cal sensation sweeping the nation, also known as frozen yogurt, has taken hold of yet another Maryland shopping center. Though this time, we are getting a break from the Sweet Frog chain that is ever so popular on the East Coast. “You Say When Yogurt” has just made its Bel Air debut, and it couldn’t be tastier.

A franchise mostly located in Florida, “You Say When Yogurt” is expanding. Located in the Greenbrier Shopping Center, the shop has caught my attention. The shopping center is also home to Safeway, Aruba Sun & Spa, Italian Sensations, and other places frequented by JC students.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with the fro-yo phenomena, it is essentially a “healthier” option for those of us with a bad sweet tooth. We all know that yogurt is supposed to be good for us. Yogurt maintains its health benefits even in frozen form, though with the added sugar it might not necessarily be as good for you as you think it is.

However, I am not too concerned about the healthiness of my sweet treats and prefer to load up my yogurt with as many toppings as I can. Fortunately, the shop has a vast variety of toppings, more than I have experienced at any other frozen yogurt shop.

The yogurt flavor selections were not vastly different from any of my other frozen yogurt experiences, but there are only so many flavors of yogurt one can choose from. There were the staples like Chocolate, Cake Batter, and Original Tart, as well as some unique options like Apple Pie.

I have also found “You Say When Yogurt” to be an impeccably clean facility all around, which is very important in a self-serve environment. I hate to sound like a yogurt snob, but no one wants to put fruit on their yogurt that could very well have been the home of a fly earlier that day.

You Say When Yogurt also has special deals like “Wacky Wednesday,” where for four dollars, you can have as much yogurt as you can fit in a 12 ounce cup.

There may not be a drastic difference between this yogurt shop and the others in the area, but with a large and clean location so close to JC, I can’t argue with being given more opportunities to get fro-yo.
