Senior Justin Hawkins is an Opinion Editor for The Patriot and jcpatriot.com. This is his second year on The Patriot staff and third year taking journalism. Outside of journalism, he is the co-captain of the Academic Team, the founder and president of the Chess Club, a member of the Forensics Team, and a member of the tennis team. He enjoys studying history, philosophy, politics, economics, military science, and chess. He works at the Maryland Golf and Country Club as an assistant to the tennis pro. People hold up tributes to the victims of the Charlie Hebdo shooting on Jan. 7, 2015 during a 1-minute silence in Bordeaux, France, in remembrance of those killed and wounded in the deadly attack in Paris on Wednesday. Gunmen killed 12 people at the Paris office of French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo in an apparent militant Islamist attack. Four of the magazine's well-known cartoonists, including its editor, were among those killed, as well as two police officers. A major police operation is under way to find three gunmen who fled by car.
