Senior Kathy Deaver is the Online Chief for The Patriot and jcpatriot.com, and she is excited for her second year on staff and third year taking journalism. Deaver is the co-editor in chief for the Pinnacle, JC’s literary magazine and the co-captain of the Academic Team. Outside of The Patriot, Deaver’s favorite things in the world are flowers. Her favorite animal is a cat. Or maybe a frog. When she is not running around JC, Deaver enjoys making lists, playing badminton, reading, watching football, eating Oreos, singing Disney songs, and being taller than her siblings … for now. People hold up tributes to the victims of the Charlie Hebdo shooting on Jan. 7, 2015 during a 1-minute silence in Bordeaux, France, in remembrance of those killed and wounded in the deadly attack in Paris on Wednesday. Gunmen killed 12 people at the Paris office of French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo in an apparent militant Islamist attack. Four of the magazines well-known cartoonists, including its editor, were among those killed, as well as two police officers. A major police operation is under way to find three gunmen who fled by car.
